Kazakhstan and Germany have committed to enhancing their economic partnership by expanding cooperation in several key sectors, including investment, infrastructure, industry, and transport. The agreement was reached following discussions between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin on September 29.
During the talks, President Tokayev underscored the importance of Germany as Kazakhstan’s strategic partner in Europe, noting the significant progress in their bilateral relations over the past three decades. In a bid to further solidify their economic ties, Tokayev proposed the creation of a Kazakhstan-Germany Investment and Financial Platform to facilitate joint projects and investments between the two nations.
Tokayev’s visit also included meetings with German business leaders to explore opportunities for collaboration in areas such as transport and logistics, industrial localization, engineering, metallurgy, and waste processing. The discussions emphasized the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, the modernization of railway infrastructure, and the expansion of manufacturing capabilities in Kazakhstan.
The two countries are also considering the involvement of German companies in industrial and infrastructure projects within Kazakhstan. This collaboration could provide German businesses with greater access to the broader Central Asian market, offering potential growth and expansion opportunities.
Overall, the strengthening of economic ties between Kazakhstan and Germany signals a promising future for bilateral cooperation, with both countries poised to benefit from increased investment and trade in the coming years.
